What makes Arabic sound right

Arabic is usually written without short vowels, so a speech engine has to infer them from context: the same consonants كتب can be read "kataba" (he wrote) or "kutub" (books). Neural voices handle most everyday text well; adding diacritics (tashkeel) removes the guesswork for names, poetry and teaching material.

Tips for better Arabic audio

  • Add diacritics (َ ُ ِ) to words that are ambiguous or important, such as names and key vocabulary.
  • The menu option is tuned to Egyptian Arabic; for Modern Standard Arabic news-style reading, use "Detect from text" with the Newsreader style.
  • Write numbers as words if you need a specific gender or case agreement.
  • Keep sentences short with clear punctuation (، and .) so pauses land where you expect.

Questions people ask

Is Arabic text to speech free?

Yes. Paste up to 5,000 characters of Arabic text, choose a voice and download the MP3 with no account. An hourly fair-use limit applies to the AI voices; device voices on the Read Aloud page are unlimited.

Which voice is best for Arabic?

Every voice speaks every supported language. For Arabic, good starting points are Charon, Kore, Orus, Despina. Audition two with your own first sentence — the difference is character and register, not accuracy.

Can I use Arabic text to speech to practise pronunciation?

Yes. Choose the "Slow & clear" delivery, lower the pace to 0.8×, and put [pause 1s] after each phrase so you have time to repeat it aloud (shadowing). Download the MP3 to practise offline.

Can I download Arabic text to speech as MP3?

Yes. After the Arabic audio renders, press Download MP3 (or WAV). The file is encoded in your browser, so there is no upload step, no watermark and no account.

How natural do the Arabic AI voices sound?

They are neural voices from Google's Gemini speech model, trained on real recordings, so rhythm and intonation are much closer to a human reader than older robotic engines. Accuracy is highest with correctly spelled text; unusual names may need a phonetic spelling.

Can I mix languages in one script?

Yes. Set the language to "Detect from text" and the voice will switch naturally between languages, for example an English lesson with Spanish example phrases.
